Jamaica’s national champion Shanieka Ricketts continues to show her class and missed out by a whisker in claiming the IAAF Diamond Trophy for the women’s triple jump but managed to place second at the first leg of the Diamond League final in Zurich yesterday.
Ricketts was at her all-time best covering a distance of 14.55m to finish behind world champion Caterine Ibarguen 14.56m, while Kimberly William finished third with a jump of 14.47 meters.
In the long jump event, Jamaica was also in the mix as the much talked about talented Tajay Gayle made his presence count by kicking up a storm in 8.15 meters to finish fourth behind South Africa world champion Luvo Manyonga with 8.36m on his sixth and final attempt.
