Jamaican international Peter-Lee Vassell is set to become the latest reggae boy to parade his skills in U.S. Major League Soccer. The 19-year-old midfielder who is one of the few players not being selected directly out of college was drafted by new franchise, Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) on Friday in Chicago, having been the 40th overall pick and the 16th pick in the second round of the draft.
The former Cornwall College standout has been suiting up for Harbour View FC in the Red Stripe Premier League since 2017. It’s understood that a transfer fee will be paid over to Harbour View in due course as there was an initial agreement between the “Stars of the East” and the MLS regarding Vassell’s transfer.
Vassell was outstanding at the 2018 Caribbean Combine where he was selected MVP of that event. He was subsequently invited to the main MLS Combine last week.
