The 2018 British crime drama, ‘Yardie,’ directed by Idris Elba is getting props for a possible sequel.
The film is based on the novel written by Jamaican-born writer Victor Headley.
It was screened in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition section at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival.
In February 2018, the first trailer to the film and a poster was released.
The crime drama is set in Jamaica and London and recently hit the screens in the U.K.
On the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, the film holds an approval rating of 42%, based on 12 reviews with an average rating of 5.6/10.
That said, there is the talk of a sequel by film director Idris Elba.
Speaking on Talk Radio in the United Kingdom, Elba said he wanted to make a Jamaican Godfather trilogy out of the movie.
Elba, who is making his directorial debut with the film, said that he would be on board for at least two more installments of the story.
